New Blog New Me

Recently, I decided to walk away from a safe career and take the risk that I will find something that makes me happy.  I did this because I had been unhappy for a long time.  I am not suggesting to others that you do the same. Nor, do I want you to think that I am in any kind of special circumstance that makes it easier or safer for me.  When I quit my job I had $27 in savings and $150 in my checking and one paycheck still to be paid out that would cover bills for a month.  So, no it was not the smart thing, or the safe thing, but so far it has felt like the right thing.  I thought it would be fun to chronicle my experiences as I search for my next thing.

The career I just left was nursing which I was in for more than a decade.  Now, please don't get offended.  My dislike is nothing more than it wasn't the right thing for me.  It has nothing to do with you personally nor am I saying that it isn't a great career for the right person.  I made great friends, have interesting stories and  worked in a few different specialties.  Now it is time for me to venture out of the safety net it has provided and experience and learn new things

For those who have also left careers or are thinking about it the first step is to make sure you have ample supplies of candy, carbs, alcohol what ever your poison for the first week.  Don't expect to get anything done.  You'll be in a state of shock and numb.  It's also a good time to research shows to watch.  I personally binge watched "Anne with an E" and season 3 of "The Flash" through my Netflix account.

Next week it will be time to take some action.  For now just adjusting to my new situation
